Tatiana Shchekina (1956-2006) was an artist and a poet. She was born in Volzhsky, Volgograd Region. In Moscow, she met graduates of the Moscow State Stroganov University of Arts and Industry. Together, they founded the Synthesis art group. In 1981, the participants move to Novorossiysk where they become representatives of Kuban avant-garde of the 1980’s. In 1988, Tatiana moves back to Moscow. Her works feature the influence of the Moscow school of neo- primitivism, N. S. Goncharova, R. R. Falk, I. F. Larionov. In her work, the artist attempts to liberate the form and color from the academic fundamentals and naturalistic vision. To achieve this, she turns to a specific infantile form, a kind of childishness, ‘irregular’ images, and increased color intensity. The work is distinguished by the monumental decorative conception of space and ordinance. The split figure creates a sense of movement.
