Sergei Rozhin is a young Russian artist who was born in Yekaterinburg and currently lives and works in Moscow. Transferring from street art to book illustrations and objects, he preserved alignment and overlay of layers of meaning. The auction presents his work from the series of newspaper collages. Sergei is a participant of the 3rd Ural Industrial Biennale of Contemporary Art; his works have been exhibited in the PERMM Museum of Modern Art (Perm), PG ART GALLERY (Istanbul). He is also a participant of VLADEY auction. This work, Face, also features the theme of relationships of the artist with printing and illustrations. The author makes the background architecture from newspapers – the collages from a German newspaper become a means of reviewing and analyzing of stranger and even alien texts to create a romantic mythology. He combines this layer with another, quite an unexpected motif, in particular, with illustrations drawn on top of the newspapers that look as if they were taken from an anatomy atlas and show the structure of the human skull. This way the character appears before the viewer in the aura of the human body and outer bright vivacity toying with the audience and their perception.
