Viktor Ponomarenko is a Krasnodar artist who currently lives and works in Anapa. He is a participant of such projects as Assemblage Point and Bifurcation Point, the parallel program of the 8th Moscow International Biennale; his works have been exhibited in Artis Gallery (Winzavod, Moscow) and Erarta Gallery (St. Petersburg). The work was created especially for the auction. It harks back to the classic Dutch still life of the 17th century. The excessive enlargement of objects and the cropped composition highlights the most significant parts. Yet again, the still life not just helps the artist address the artistic challenges, but also depicts his life at home and his life as an artist. Seclusion and intimacy inherent in still life made this genre and the genre of landscape a haven for artists.
