The artist is concerned with the problem of consumption, mainly the disposable items with fast life circle. Experimenting with the aestheticization of waste, Viktor Ponomarenko paints a series of still lifes in the manner of Dutch paintings of the 17th century, depicting food and packaging from popular fast food restaurants. Detailed elaboration, verified composition, attention to color and subtle play of light give a new time dimension to “fast” things. The fact of the artist paying attention and us admiring them breaks the logic in which these objects are produced and exit.
