Vladimir Migachev was born in 1959 in the village of Kucheriaevo within the Oryol Region and studied in the Department of Artistic and Technical Graphics at Kuban State University. A member of the Union of Russian Artists and the International Federation of Artists UNESCO, he holds a diploma from the Russian Academy of Arts. Migachev mainly paints, dedicating his dense, neo-expressionist landscapes to the remoteness of certain Russian environments. In “Selfie”, Vladimir Migachev, standing by his convictions, attempts to catch how the human views change in the gadget era. It’s as if the work falls apart into two layers. One is a child taking a selfie — face indistinct, subtle. The second is the background made with obscure care and attention: an old wall covered with cracks, collapsing into a black abyss, where the child himself is about to sink.
