Andrei Skripka was born in 1965 in Krasnodar and graduated from Krasnodar Art School in 1984. Since 1995, he has been a member of the Artists Trade Union of Russia. He creates paintings in the style of abstract expressionism. The influence of Cy Twombly, Peter Doig and other contemporary artists can be noticed in his work. Almost all of Andrei Skripka’s works are abstract compositions based on a contrasting combination of color spots and uneven, pulsating lines. This method also translates into the complementary paintings “Structure No. 15” and “Structure No. 23”. The visual center of each canvas is a dark, hatching lump countered by bright, saturated spots as if appearing form a light, heterogeneous background. Together they form a radiant, joyful composition.
