Ekaterina Muromtseva was born in 1990 in Moscow and graduated from the Philosophy Department of the Lomonosov Moscow State University and Rodchenko Moscow School of Photography and Multimedia. She was a participant in the “Autumn in Syria” Festival (2018, Graz, Austria). She works with photography, video, paint and graphics, combining her work into full installations. The series “At a quarter to twelve” is based on an actual historical event: On August 23,1989, more than two million people living in Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia joined hands with each other and formed a human “chain”, connecting Vilnius, Riga and Tallinn, symbolically circumventing the iron curtain between the Soviet and Western worlds. Ekaterina Muromtseva interprets this with clear contrasting drawings, executed as if in one continuous line. In the main work of the series — “Baltic Route” — human figures intertwine with flags and cyborgs to form a clear graphic ornament.
